Ingredients

  • 6 cups peeled sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Prepare the Apples: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with granulated sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spread the mixture evenly in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Make the Crisp Topping: In a separate bowl, mix the flour, brown sugar, melted butter, and salt until crumbly. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apple mixture.
  • Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
  • Serve: Allow the crisp to cool slightly before serving. It's delightful on its own or topped with ice cream for a comforting dessert.

Notes

For extra crunch, add ½ cup of oats or chopped nuts to the topping. Best served warm with vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
